As the clock ticks towards Tuesday, the 13th of September, it’s nearly all systems go at Kasarani stadium, the venue for the inauguration of the country's fifth president, William Ruto.

Rehearsals and preparations have been going on since the Supreme Court verdict on Monday, and now these preparations are getting to the tail end.

The grounds are getting a good clean-up, the sitting arrangements finalised and the grand stage where all eyes will be glued to getting that final spruce up.

The Assumption of Office of the President Committee underlining the importance of getting things right for this day.

“There was a need to follow and ensure that everything is being done with the perfection that we would desire to assure Kenyans that everything has been done properly and what is remaining we believe by the end of today we would have accomplished,” the committee’s chairperson, Joseph Kinyua, said on Sunday.

An integral part of the celebrations, the entertainment team, was on Sunday polishing up on its performances, teams from within and outside the country, ticking the i's and crossing the t's , making sure that the choreography is in sync.

They will entertain the close to 60,000 people expected to fill the Kasarani stadium to capacity on Tuesday as William Ruto takes oath of office and president Uhuru Kenyatta takes a bow. 2,500 VIP invited guests are also expected to attend the event

“I  assure you we are at 90%, what is remaining is very minimal and we believe everything will be on schedule,” Kinyua said.

The inauguration ceremony, the third under the 2010 Constitution, will see a host of international guests in attendance. The committee says at least 20 heads of states and governments have confirmed attendance.

Among those sending delegations to the swearing in are the USA President Joe Biden, who has appointed a five-person delegation led by Trade Representative Katherine Tai.

Already, some of those delegations and representatives have been to Kasarani to get a first-hand feel of the atmosphere and to confirm that preparations are going well.

Members of the public will be expected to be seated at the stadium at 7 am for the ceremony that starts at 10a.m.
